I probably fell asleep at 10:30 pm PT on Day 5. I hadn't set an alarm to wake up at a specific time for Day 6, but I still owe up at 6:00 am and took a half a dose of NyQuil to try to go back to sleep. I woke up again around 8:30 and got our of bed at 8:50.
Instead of the usual, "walk over to my kitchen, set up my Cosori and Chemex to make coffee out of Caveman Coffee grinds", I grabbed my last can of Caveman Nitro Cold Brew Coffee. I sipped on it until I got half way through it then hopped in the shower.
First order of business was to do laundry. Ever since my work schedule slowed down in early February, I tried to make it a routine to do my laundry every Saturday morning.
As I was doing laundry, I decided to make actual breakfast around 10:00 am, which consisted of Oatmeal with bananas and honey over it.
After I switched my laundry from the wash to the dryer, I decided to draw to pass time. I've been trying to get a little more creative and artistic since I was to design my own clothing brand. I'm trying to get some inspiration for a logo but I can't yet to seem to create one that I like. I started to draw objects with rose(s) and the vines around it. It's not what Im looking for but just to pass time, I guess.
An hour and 45 minutes later of laundry, that choir was done.
I texted one of the coaches at Deuce after folding laundry asking if they have any product, food and beverage specifically, since I wanted to help out as much as I can to keep the gym running.
After I put my laundry away, I drank a pre-workout and decided to workout. The original plan the night before was not to workout, but I didn't have anything else to do during Day 6 so I went after it.
The Workout Of the Day was...
Added Warm Up:
1:00 90/90 Hip Stretch Per Side
10 Shin Box Step Throughs (Total)
Squat Therapy:
Accumulate 10 minutes in the bottom of a squat..
Accessory:
Complete 4 rounds for quality of:
6 Slide to Hollow
12 Tempo Towel Hammer Curls (Ea)
15 3-Way Shoulder Raise
Conditioning for a score:
EMOM 16
Odd: 2 Broad Jumps (7’/5′)
Even: :20 Mountain Climbers (2-ct)
**Log your lowest mountain climber round score
For the Tempo Towel Hammer Curls, we had to get a towel and put object in it and curl it. For the 3-Way Shoulder Raises, I were recommended to use a brick or something that could be used as a weight to do the exercise.
Of course I used a canned soup for both those things. Again, Chicken Noodle Soup.
I sluggishly did the workout and got it done in a total time of 2 hours. I was slow moving today.
After the workout, around 3:00, I heated up the curry I made on Day 4 and made garlic and spinach rice to go with it. The garlic and spinach rice really simple to make and something I learned how to make while working at the restaurant I was at for 6 years. God, I miss working there. The staff I worked with during my shifts were the best.
I sat around the couch and was looking at my phone mindlessly after I was done eating, so I decided to edit the video of the workout I did.
Passing time, you know.
Around 6:00, I decided to go on a walk down the the beach. I forget if I mentioned it on the Days, but I'm trying to spend a maximum an hour outside to keep my body sane. It's crazy to think about. For me, there would be days, during the football season in the fall and winter, that I wouldn't go outside, unless it was to go to my car, go grab lunch and come back straight to my desk, or go back and forth to building at my job. After the football season, I made a conscious effort to be outdoors, so I've been anxious about be outside lately.
It took me about 20 minutes to get to the Playa Del Rey beach area. I didn't go all the way to the sand because I noticed there was a bunch of people from afar, most in groups of 2 or 3, that were sitting on along the coast.
I stopped and sat down on the curb of Montreal Street and South Vista Del Mar Lane looking towards the partly cloudy Pacific Ocean for about 3 minutes. The view was a little obstructed so I decided to take a walk up a hill to Vista Del Mar Lane. Theres a pretty good open view of the ocean from there. I had been there a handful of times. A good place to stand and watch the sunset.
I probably stood on the sidewalk, leaning over the railings, listening to to a playlist on Spotify that puts you in a relaxing and deep thinking thought, for about 30 minutes, just before the sun was completely down. I wish I would have stayed longer since on my walk back, the sky was lit up with hues of red and orange.
For those 30 minutes, I was thought about my friend, Joe. From where I was at, I could see the apartment he lives in. He's going through a pretty tough time. Just on Tuesday, March 10th, 2 days before I was told to work from home for the time being, Taylor, Joe and I went to Cinco, a local Mexican restaurant and went to go grab a few drinks. We were originally supposed to also grab drink with our friend Greg, but I was told he totally forgot all about it.
Joe dropped Taylor and I off at the complex we live in and told him we'll see him later, of course not what course the pandemic was going to take. That was the last time I sat down at a restaurant before the county didn't allowed restaurants to shutdown dine-ins.
During the 20 minutes walk back to Casa Del Dova-Endo, I FaceTimed Bryan (the friend and colleague, but friend first). We talked for about 20 minutes about how this is the norm now with video chatting and conferencing with friends.
Bryan is probably one of the closest friends I have from work. He and I started to work on the road in 2016 at Fox. We both were on a College Football crew, respectively, then Bryan moved onto bigger and better things in 2017, working full-time on the lead MLB crew and working on the World Series, as I took a position on the NFL side. Even with our busy and different schedule, we would try to make an effort to find the time to go golfing, which we both started going to the range back in early 2017. Since then, I think we could hit more balls straight than not.
I walked back into Casa Del Dova-Endo and saw my paper doodles that I had left on the dining room table, so I decided to draw a second thing and that took about an hour and a half to draw. Still, no inspiration of a logo for a clothing brand.
Passing time...
As I finished my second drawing, David had just come back from his parent place, where they had just moved in on Day 5. We both started down on the couch as he turned on Mad Men (I think he's on Season 3 now) around 10:00 pm. Maybe after 15 minutes or so, my eyes were getting heavy so I headed towards my room to sleep.
Before I headed to sleep, earlier in the day, probably around 7:00 am, my friend "challenged" me to take a shot of something and tag people to do the same. Then, another friend, who was also called out by the same friend, told me he was waiting for me to do it too. So around 10:15 pm, I poured a shot of Tito's vodka and took a shot of that.
I only got "tagged" in 2 challenges (thankfully), which one of them was to take a shot, and the second one being read for 30 minutes a day. That one, I can take a part of. Bryan and I were trying to read a chapter a day towards the end of 2019. I've been slacking on it, but there's no excuse this time around, right?
Day 6 ended with me thinking of going on my Sunday run at Playa Del Rey beach, which I started a few weeks back. I remember reading and finishing "Shoe Dog", a memoir of Phil Knight, the creator of Nike, while I was vacationing on Hawaii in mid-February. Knight would go on runs after work during tough time, like when his business was going into shambles at one point. Obviously, the situation in this current day is different now, but still a tough situation.
Let's see what Day 7 brings us.
